Lift Chair vs. Power Recliner: What's the Difference?

By Largo Lift Chair Showroom Team Members | March 28, 2025

At first glance, a lift chair and a power recliner may look similar - but their functions are very different. While both offer motorized reclining, a lift chair also helps the user stand up safely by tilting forward. This feature makes lift chairs ideal for seniors or anyone with limited mobility.

Power recliners are designed purely for relaxation. They recline at the touch of a button but don't assist with standing. Lift chairs, on the other hand, are often recommended by doctors and may even be eligible for Medicare coverage when deemed medically necessary.

If you're deciding between the two, consider your mobility needs, long-term comfort, and whether assistance getting up from the chair is required. Better yet, come into our Largo showroom and test both options for yourself!
